Existing general guides may discuss observable texture, curl pattern, skin response, shaving-bump risk, or product weight where a qualified source supports the point. They do not claim that race, ethnicity, curl pattern, density, and skin condition are interchangeable.
Black, curly, and coarse are not synonyms

Required contributor and reviewer roles
- Named community contributor: direct, relevant lived experience and a clear role in reviewing language, routine assumptions, tradeoffs, and missing scenarios.
- Qualified technique reviewer when needed: documented professional experience with the trimming, detangling, styling, or barbering techniques described.
- Named clinical reviewer for health claims: dermatology or other appropriate clinical qualification before expanding diagnosis, treatment, medication, or reaction guidance.
- Research Desk editor: checks sources, separates contributor experience from general evidence, documents conflicts, and keeps conclusions inside the reviewed scope.
Minimum artifacts before publication
- A written brief naming the search intent, reader decision, exclusions, and terms that require contributor judgment.
- Agreed scope, compensation, attribution, disclosure, revision rights, and final fact-check process before work begins.
- Contributor review of the outline and full draft, with material disagreements recorded rather than silently flattened.
- Primary sources for medical, safety, labeling, and product claims; contributor experience is labeled as experience, not universal evidence.
- Concrete scenarios covering more than one beard length, curl pattern, density, skin response, budget, and maintenance preference.
- A dated review trigger and correction path after publication.
What will fail the gate
A page will not publish if it relies on stock imagery as proof of representation, invents quotes or credentials, treats a contributor as a spokesperson for a whole community, republishes generic beard advice under an identity keyword, or adds medical instructions without qualified review. If the right input is unavailable, the honest outcome is no page.
Contributor brief
A prospective contributor should be prepared to describe the relevant lived or professional experience they want publicly attributed, the routine decisions they can review, conflicts or commercial relationships, terminology preferences, and topics outside their scope. Beard Insider will provide the proposed outline, source ledger, decision tables, compensation terms, and review schedule before assignment.
